Chief Executive Officer
IL Yung Kim joined DZS as Co-Chief Executive Officer and a director on September 9, 2016 in connection with the merger of Zhone Technologies and DASAN Solutions. Prior to the merger, Mr. Kim served as a consultant to DASAN in connection with the merger. From September 2014 to August 2016, served as Chief Executive Officer of TukTak in Korea, an online startup company, which enables people with creative talents to collaborate and produce goods and services online.
From December 2014 to August 2016, he also served as a strategic advisor for InMobi, a global mobile advertising platform provider. Previously, Mr. Kim held various positions with Korea Telecom, including as President and executive board member, and as Chief Strategy Officer. Mr. Kim commenced his career with British Telecom, where he held various senior positions including Vice President of Technology and Innovation, Program Director and Head of Technology and Investment.
Mr. Kim holds an M.S. Degree in Microwave and Modern Optics and a B.S. (with Honors) in Electrical Engineering from University College, University of London.
CFO, Corporate Treasurer & Secretary
Michael Golomb serves as Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Treasurer and Secretary for DZS. Mr. Golomb joined DZS in December 2017, bringing over twenty years of senior management experience across a broad spectrum of high growth industries. These industries include Blockchain, manufacturing, digital health & medical devices, consumer electronics, SaaS, and real estate which involved some emphasis on telecommunications assets in Europe.
As a hands-on entrepreneurial company builder and proven top executive, Mr. Golomb has driven successful equity and M&A exits for several of his prior companies as well as completing significant fundraising initiatives, including when he was the first employee at BitFury (a global full-service Blockchain company), serving as CFO, Board Member, and head of its San Francisco office between 2013 and 2015; led the formation of Mayak RE (a joint venture with Morgan Stanley and MCP PE Fund in Europe), where he served as Co-Founder, Co-President, and Board Member between 2008 and 2012; successfully managed Sistema Hals’ 2006 IPO on the London Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of $2.7B in 2007; as well as played a vital role in the Form S1 filing of a security software company on the NASDAQ in 2000-2001. Prior to joining DZS, Mr. Golomb was CFO at Breathometer, a hyper-growth digital-health and medical device venture-backed startup, which he helped take from pre-revenue to shipping in the FDA regulated space.
Mr. Golomb holds a M.Sc. in Management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University, and a B.A. with double major in Economics and Diplomacy & World Affairs from Occidental College. Mr. Golomb is also a CPA (inactive) in California and is a recovering professional chess player, who now prefers the thrill of a winning business strategy as part of a winning team.
Chief Operating Officer
Philip Yim serves as Chief Operating Officer for DZS, responsible for the company’s growth in Marketing & Product Management, Operations, IT-DevOps, and global R&D program coordination. Mr. Yim joined DZS in June 2017 as Vice President of Engineering, bringing more than thirty years of experience across the data and telecommunications sectors.
Prior to DZS, Mr. Yim held several global multinational executive leadership positions across global operations, marketing, development, business and sales, most recently as Executive Vice President of Global Program Management for Allied Telesis. Mr. Yim was the original founder of Turin Networks, and was the head of Product Line Management for Advanced Fiber Communications. Earlier in his career Philip led the Product Line Management group and R&D team at Siemens / Plessey Broadband Communication over a 15 year tenure.
Mr. Yim holds a B.S. in Engineering (1st Class Honors) with an emphasis in Electronic and Control Systems from University of Bradford, England.
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Seungdong Lee
Dr. Seungdong Lee serves as Chief Technology Officer for DZS, leading the team responsible for system/software design, development initiatives for global R&D activities, creation/management of intellectual property and decision on technology evolution strategy. Dr. Lee joined DZS in September 2016 in connection with the Merger of Zhone Technologies and DASAN Solutions, where he also served as CTO.
Dr. Lee was a pioneer in implementing MMU-awareness for embedded debugger while he was working for Mentor Graphics ESD. Dr. Lee also played a significant role in proving the viability of embedded Linux as a platform for network operating system before Linux gained wide acceptance and popularity. Dr. Lee also lead IP-DSLAM and ATCA blade development while DASAN was a subsidiary company of Siemens / Nokia Siemens Networks.
Dr. Lee holds a Ph. D from Seoul National University.
Senior Vice President of Global Sales
Jun Bahk serves as Senior Vice President of Global Sales for DZS. Mr. Bahk joined DZS in February 2017 as Vice President of Management Innovation and brings more than 20 years of telecommunications and IT start-up experience to his role.
Prior to joining DZS, Mr. Bahk held various senior management and executive positions with British Telecom Plc, UK and Korea Telecom Corp. He was Senior Vice President and Head of Global Business at KT responsible for global sales and operations, strategic alliance/partnership and strategic investment projects to expand global. During his tenure with BT Plc, Mr. Bahk held senior management positions in product management, strategy, marketing, business development and sales.
Mr. Bahk holds an M.B.A. from Nanzan University, Japan and also studied international business at Indiana University.
Senior Vice President Quality and Service
Keith Nauman serves as Sr. Vice President, Quality & Service for DZS, responsible for comprehensive quality, feature, and performance testing of new products and software releases, and providing 24×7 technical support and professional services for DZS solutions across the globe. For more than 30 years, Mr. Nauman has served in leadership roles focusing on the definition, design, development, test and support of voice and data communications products.
Mr. Nauman’s career spans three major technology waves for residential Internet Access: Dial Modems, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), and Fiber To The Home (FTTH). Prior to DZS, Mr. Nauman held executive level roles for the leaders in the aforementioned technologies including AT&T Bell Laboratories, Paradyne, and Zhone Technologies.
Mr. Nauman holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Monmouth University in Eatontown, NJ.
President of EMEA, DZS-KEYMILE
Lothar Schwemm serves as President of EMEA and Managing Director of DZS-KEYMILE, assuming this role in February 2018, and joining DZS in January 2019 as part of the KEYMILE acquisition. Prior to this role from October 2017 to February 2018, he managed KEYMILE’s company’s technology departments as Chief Technology Officer.
Prior to KEYMILE, Mr. Schwemm served 4 years as Managing Director and Executive Board Member at FRIWO AG, a company listed on the stock exchange and an international manufacturer of charging devices, power packs and power supply units. For nearly two decades prior, Mr. Schwemm served in various marketing, sales, technology, product management, and executive leadership roles for Nokia, based in different countries across Europe, Asia and the United States.
Mr. Schwemm’s career started at AEG Telefunken where he trained to be an electronics technician for energy plants in 1982. Mr. Schwemm holds an B.S. in Telecommunication Engineering (with Honors) from University for Applied Science in Dortmund, Germany.
Head of APAC Business Unit
Dr. Steve Lee
Dr. Steve Lee serves as head of the Asia Pacific Region for DZS, responsible for managing APAC Region business in coordination with functional department heads. For nearly 30 years, Mr. Lee has served in leading-edge research, educational, and business leadership roles, including 9 years as a Vice President for DASAN Networks. Prior to his most recent role, Dr. Lee served as Strategic Advisor to DZS CEO Yung Kim, focused on the integration efforts of DASAN and Zhone.
Dr. Lee served for 8 years at different leadership roles with HANDYSOFT as President / CEO, and Vice Chairman. Dr. Lee has served 7 years as an Adjunct Professor at KAIST and SUNY in South Korea. Dr. Lee also served 8 years in Supercomputing, as Director of the KISTI Supercomputing Center, and Founding President of the HANA Program Center in China. Dr. Lee began his career in research with NASA and Stanford University.
In addition to advanced management studies at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Mr. Lee holds an Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and both a M.S and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University.
President of Korean Business Unit, DZS
Daniel Won serves as President of the Korean Business Unit for DZS. Mr. Won joined DZS in September 2016 as President of DNS Korea in connection with the Merger of Zhone Technologies and DASAN Solutions.
Mr. Won brings over thirty years of experience in the telecommunications marketplace across several disciplines, including executive management, engineering and sales. Prior to his roles with DASAN, Mr. Won held various executive positions at LG and Cisco Systems.
Mr. Won holds an M.B.A. from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), and a B.S. from Seoul National University.
Senior Vice President of Sales, Americas
Michael Fischer serves as Senior Vice President of Sales for the Americas, including North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Mr. Fischer is responsible for the development and execution of all sales in these markets, joining Zhone Technologies in 2004 for a total of over twenty years of telecommunications experience.
Prior to joining DZS, Mr. Fischer held several positions at Advanced Fibre Communications, including Regional Vice President of Sales. Mr. Fischer’s track record of delivering outstanding business results in the telecom sector includes roles earlier in his career with HickoryTech, Contel and GTE.
Mr. Fischer holds an M.B.A. from Drake University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University.
Vice President, Human Resources
Laura Larsen-Misunas serves as Vice President of Human Resources for DZS. Mrs. Larsen-Misunas has held several progressively advancing administration and human resources management roles since joining DZS in 2000, for a total of more than twenty years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
Prior to DZS, Mrs. Larsen-Misunas held positions across multiple disciplines in addition to HR, including account management and operations. Most recently at Alcatel / Lucent, she established the company’s first Risk Management department, managing day to day cash, long term investments, and the foreign exchange program. Prior to Alcatel, Mrs. Larsen-Misunas was a successful account manager and executive in the financial and insurance industries, having worked for Marsh and Willis. Mrs. Larsen-Misunas has also contributed her expertise to the United States Tennis Association in Northern California, both in human resources and other aspects of operations.
Mrs. Larsen-Misunas holds a B.S. in Marketing from California State University San Francisco.
Alex Yastremski serves as General Counsel to DZS. Mr. Yastremski joined DZS in February 2018, bringing more than eighteen years of legal executive expertise from law firms and technology ventures across several industries.
Prior to joining DZS, Mr. Yastremski was General Counsel for BitFury, one of the oldest and largest bitcoin miners in the world. Mr. Yastremski began his legal career at the international law firm Coudert Brothers and, prior to going in-house, was also Counsel with Bingham McCutchen LLP.
Mr. Yastremski earned his J.D. at American University, Washington College of Law, and a B.A. (with Honors) from Bucknell University.
Vice President, Finance and Investor Relations
Pei Hung is Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations for DZS. Ms. Hung joined DZS in January 2018, and is responsible for communicating DZS’s financial, product, and sales successes to the investor community. Ms. Hung is also actively involved with capital markets initiatives, including debt and equity raising activities, as well as being a senior member of the DZS finance team. Ms. Hung brings more than 12 years of deep finance experience across technology investment banking, capital markets structuring and credit investing.
Prior to DZS, Ms. Hung was most recently Executive Director in the Technology group at UBS Investment Bank, advising public and private technology companies, including high growth hardware and software companies, on equity offerings, debt financings (including balance sheet recapitalizations), and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to UBS, Ms. Hung was a credit investor with MetLife Investments and Columbus Nova Partners.
Ms. Hung holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California Institute of Technology.
